A Short Intermission - Cleveland International Film Festival Blogger's Reception

BEFORE CONTINUING WITH KRISTIAN'S INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE, LET'S TAKE A SHORT INTERMISSION SO THAT I CAN PRESENT YOU WITH SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
...........................

Sunday, March 25, 2012

A little over two weeks ago, I was invited to the Cleveland International Film Festival's Blogger Reception for some snacks, drinks and two complimentary passes to a film showing that evening.

Having Sunday free and loving 1.) blogger gatherings 2.) snacks and 3.) films, I obviously said yes.

Since Julia wasn't able to attend, my mom jumped at the opportunity, but she asked if we could go earlier since she hadn't been to Tower City in a long long long loooong time.

So we did...

...and wouldn't you know that Tower City also had an arts festival going on?

Only a week before, I had removed this arts festival listing from the Ohio Festivals Schedule Page because I couldn't find info on their website (I just checked again while writing this).

I decided not to worry about it and we strolled around Tower City a bit before heading up...

...to the Cleveland International Film Festival's Blogger Reception.

Yay!

This was a nice event where bloggers got to mingle...

...get some tasty grub (this was a veggie sandwich with a side of rice/peas/cheese)...

...and even talk to filmmakers, like Katie Dellamaggiore...

...who directed the film Brooklyn Castle.

Then, if you wanted to be a little creative...

...you could head beyond that smoky glass...

...and pretend you were a superhero behind the clouds.

I tried to pretend that I was...

...a crazy surfer (I have the crazy part down pat)...

...and a graduating high school senior.

Laura Watilo Blake, Social Media Manager of the Cleveland International Film Festival, was the photographer of the above pics and a real pleasure to talk to. As well as a professional photographer, she's also a graphic designer and writer with a wonderful blog called...

...FarFlung Gallery...

...which you should check out!

After the reception, my mom and I went down the film festival...

...and got in line for the film Corpo Celeste...

...which was a little slow, yet interesting, Italian film.

Afterward, with our ticket stubs in hand, we were able to validate our parking ticket, which basically waived our parking fees. This is an important tidbit of info because the last time I had been to the Cleveland International Film Festival was back in the 1990's.

Not that I don't like films (I love them!)...but I do remember the parking fees being something that discouraged me way back then.

And now that I know the parking is free (with validation), I'm looking at the festival with fresh, new eyes.

The festival is still going on through April 1...

...who knows how many films I'll be able to fit in until then?

  1. Validation is a good thing. Everyone needs it.

  2. I hope you go to MANY more! I'll be there every single day except today (Thurs) - it's my one and only day off from films. I've always dreamed of being a passholder and I wish I could have spent more time at the awesome reception, but I had a movie beforehand so had to rush. Love that Hospitality Suite!! So nice of the CIFF and Laura to host us :o)
